ZWO color astro camera ASI2600MM-DUO - chip D=28.3 mm - with guiding sensor

Cooled USB 3.0 astro camera with the Sony IMX571 MONO sensor AND guiding sensor in one housing

Recording and tracking with just one telescope and one camera - without an off-axis guider - thanks to the integrated guiding sensor
highly sensitive guiding sensor
Powerful Peltier cooling
Sony IMX571 APS-C format color sensor - back-illuminated
High resolution thanks to 3.76 µm pixels
16 bit ADC - dynamic range like a CCD sensor
No more amplifier glow thanks to zero-ampglow circuit
Anti-dew heater already installed
Telescopic side connection: M54x0.75 internal thread
Working distance only 17.5 mm from the internal thread
Telescope and mount in the third picture are for illustration purposes only and are not included.

The ASI2600MM Duo combines image and guiding sensors in a compact housing. The main sensor is the Sony IMX571 with a native 16-bit ADC, 14 stops of dynamic range and 3.76 micron square pixels. Readout noise is as low as 1.0e, and full-well capacity reaches an incredible level of 73ke. And that without amplifier glow!

The guiding sensor is the SC2210 with excellent NIR sensitivity. The sensor size is 7.68mm x 4.32mm. It has 4x4 micron pixels with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a full-well capacity of 8780 e.

The stars in the corners of the guiding images, which are affected by the flange focus, may not be completely round. This is not due to sensor tilt and does not affect normal use.

Two-in-one design
Thanks to the compact design, the ASI2600MM Duo only requires a USB cable for control. This avoids potential wiring issues and simplifies setup. You don't need a separate OAG or guiding camera.

Main sensor
The main sensor IMX571 in APS-C format has a total of 26 megapixels. The size is 23.5 mm in width x 15.7 mm in height, and the diagonal is 28.3 mm. The small pixel size of 3.76 x 3.76 microns enables an impressive full-well capacity of up to 73 ke.

The guiding sensor
The SC2210 sensor, adopted from the ASI220MM mini camera, is characterized by very high sensitivity. The QE peak value reaches 92% at 500 nm. The readout noise is only 0.6 e. As the new generation of guiding sensor, it has achieved great tracking results confirmed by hundreds of astrophotographers.

Characteristics:

STARVIS technology
The ASI2600MM DUO is based on Sony's STARVIS technology. Sony's back-illuminated CMOS image sensor improves sensitivity and noise reduction - key factors in improving image quality.

Native 16-bit ADC
This 16-bit ADC is not a CCD 16-bit ADC. It can achieve a dynamic range of 14 stops, which significantly improves image sharpness and contrast, as well as allowing for smoother and more natural color transitions.

FPS
The maximum frame rate in RAW8 mode at full resolution is 15 fps

Advanced FWC
The full-well capacity of the ASI2600MM Duo is expanded to 73ke.

USB 3.0 & 512MB DDR3 buffer
With the combination of USB 3.0 and 512MB DDR3 buffer, the ASI2600MM Duo offers stable and secure data transmission, which can effectively prevent image dropouts.

No amplifier glow
Traditional CMOS sensors produce a weak source of infrared light during operation, often visible in the corners of uncalibrated images. This is the telltale sign of amplifier glow. Because the ASI2600MM Duo uses a zero-amp glow circuit, you don't have to worry about amp glow even when shooting with high gain and long exposure times.

QE (quantum efficiency)
Based on ZWO's test results, the ASI2600MM Duo's peak QE value is over 91%.

Two-stage TEC cooling
Thanks to the two-stage TEC cooling, the ASI2600MM Duo can reduce the temperature of the CMOS sensor to more than 35 degrees Celsius below the ambient temperature, which can significantly reduce dark current generation and sensor noise even at longer exposure times.
The Delta T of 35? was at 30? Ambient temperature determined. It may decrease if the cooling system is operated for a long period of time. As the ambient temperature decreases, the delta T also decreases.

Dark current noise
The dark current noise of the ASI2600MM Duo is extremely low. Even with moderate cooling, you get a very low-noise image.

Anti-dew heater
There is a polyimide heater in the ASI2600MM Duo camera. It can help prevent potential problems with condensation or icing, depending on the environment in which you are taking pictures.
The power of the heater is about 5W. You can turn it off at any time in your photography software if you want to save electricity.

Important: external power supply required!
This camera requires 1 amp even in uncooled operation, which is a problem for USB sockets on computers because they are only designed for 900 mA, i.e. 0.9 A.

Stable operation of the camera is therefore only possible with an external 12 V power supply.

Practical tip 1: Integration of 2" filters, 360° rotation and quick coupling The camera is often used on correctors that do not offer a filter thread. In addition, the filters should always be used as close to the camera as possible. We offer you a solution here that can do much more.
2" filter holder directly in front of the camera
360° rotation for the right choice of image detail
Quick coupling - You can remove the camera from the telescope at any time without screwing and tangling the cables

The adaptation is very simple, the 21 mm T2 extension is replaced by:
1x TSROTT2-T2 and 2x T2VotingA1

A tuning ring goes on the camera side, a tuning ring goes on the telescope side of the rotator. Then screw on the M42-M48 adapter with a length of 16.5 mm and you are at the right distance with the camera.

Practical tip 2: Connecting Nikon F or Canon EOS lenses - The manufacturer no longer has the appropriate adapters in its range. However, you can come into focus with an adapter and an extension ring that fits the bayonet and is available with us.

You will need other than the lens
ZWO-EFW2-NIKON or ZWO-EFW2-EOS
TSVM5415

If you would like to use a filter (2"), the filter drawer that fits the bayonet is the more elegant solution:
ZWO-FD-NIKON or ZWO-FD-EOS

Practical tip 3: Storage of cameras and accessories Especially in our latitudes, the nights are often very humid. This moisture condenses on your camera, eyepiece or filter when they come into the warm interior of the apartment. Cooled cameras are particularly affected by this. A photo session quickly ends because the sensor ices up.

Good storage is an important measure against dew and also extends the lifespan.

After use, put the camera straight into the TS Protect Case and add some silica gel. During storage, the silica gel sucks moisture out of the camera. At the same time, the penetration of moist room air is prevented. Dry storage means that even the small dry tablets can partially regenerate in cooled cameras. Your camera or accessories are always ready for you in optimal condition. You can find the silica gel and the case in our product recommendations.

Practical tip 4: Guiding without an ST-4 connection This camera does not have an ST-4 autoguider connection, so you have to connect the mount directly to the PC. Here is a table that lists cables and appropriate information for some mounts:
