Enjoy bright images at low magnification with Celestron's 56mm Omni eyepiece - a 2" low magnification wide field eyepiece with excellent light transmission. It is a Plössl eyepiece with a four-lens symmetrical design. This fully multicoated Plössl design offers an apparent field of view of 47º - a great combination of low magnification and wide field of view. The Omni 56mm is perfect for observing deep sky objects from star clusters (like the Pleiades), nebulae (like the Lagoon and Orion Nebulae), and galaxies (like the Andromeda Galaxy) with long focal length telescopes like Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrains and EdgeHDs. Without low magnification and a large field of view, you won't be able to fully see some of the most spectacular objects in the night sky in the telescope. The large lenses used in the Omni 56mm Plössl allow this combination of low magnification and large field of view.

Housing
The Omni 56mm eyepiece features a black-painted mating sleeve and lens hoods. Blackened lens edges prevent reflections inside the eyepiece and increase contrast. In addition, each body is anodized twice to prevent reflections.

Its 2" plug-in sleeve is threaded to accept 2" filters and is compatible with 2" zenith mirrors and focusers. A retaining groove in the socket prevents the eyepiece from slipping out of the focuser when you tilt the telescope and the clamping screw may have loosened. On the outside of the eyepiece is an integrated knurled rubber grip ring for non-slip handling during observations.

Viewing through the Omni 2" eyepiece is suitable for both eyeglass wearers and non-eyeglass wearers, thanks to the fold-down rubber eyeguard and generous 52 mm eye relief.

The Plössl design
Plössl eyepieces are among the first modern eyepiece designs and can be traced back to the Austrian optician Simon Plössl, who developed them as early as 1860. It was not until the 1980s that the design became popular, as it can be manufactured to good quality using modern techniques and is far superior to older eyepiece designs. With about 50° of apparent field of view, they are good, versatile eyepieces that can serve you for many years. If you are looking for inexpensive eyepieces that are worth the money, the Celestron Omni eyepieces are a good choice.
