TS-Optics 2" Newton Coma Corrector and 0.73x Reducer for Astrophotography

This coma corrector and reducer turns your Newton telescope into a high-intensity astrograph. The focal length is shortened and the field corrected.

♦ This 2" reducer and coma corrector has been developed by Ackermann, a popular US optical calculator, and is manufactured exclusively for telescope service.
♦ The corrector reduces the focal length of the Newton and increases the light intensity while correcting the visual field.
♦ The corrector is suitable for all newton telescopes from f/3.5 to f/8. The requirements are only a 2" connection and sufficient working distance (back focus)
♦ The existing design has been significantly improved at the same time, the usable field is larger and the illumination has been improved.
♦ Shortening factor 0.73x
♦ Working distance from the M48 thread is 66.85mm
♦ Usable field of view up to 30mm (APS-C format) / fully corrected 22mm

Newton coma corrector and 0.73x focal length reducer for your Newton telescope

This corrector increases the luminous intensity of your Newton telescope and corrects the Newton coma. The exposure times can be halved. The proofreader was calculated by H. Ackermann (USA).

The corrector can be used for the following newton telescopes:
Basically, the corrector / reducer can be used at all Newton's of f/3.5 to f/8. The reducer has a M48x thread on the camera side. Further adaptation is not a problem and can be planned precisely to the millimeter through our adapters.

The adapter moves the focal plane about 15-16 millimeters to the rear. The value results from the reduction factor of the reducer. You will need about 85mm of space from the 2" socket of your focuser to the focus for the reducer to work in. UNC and ONTC Newton Telescopes from telescope service can be prepared for use with this particular corrector.

By increasing the light intensity but is to pay attention to a clean clamping. A minimal tilting immediately leads to a blurring of the stars in the edge area.

Usable image field of the TS-Optics corrector reducer:

The calculation of the corrector allows a 100% illuminated and usable field of 22mm in diameter. With a little trick when focusing this field can be extended to about 30mm. Do not use a star in the middle of the field to focus, but take a medium-bright star in the outer third of the field.
