The 6000 series apochromatic refractors are among the best-made lens telescopes on the market. Each refractor is individually manufactured and tested to ensure that they meet the highest demands in optics and mechanics.

Glass with the highest quality and extremely low dispersion is used for the lens. In this way, the color errors typical of lens telescopes are practically completely eliminated, and high contrast and sharpness are achieved.

The Meade LX850 mount with Starlock:

The new MEADE LX850 equatorial mount made of high-strength aluminum and stainless steel offers a precise tracking platform, even for larger optics. This accuracy is achieved by the 147mm worm wheels and the 17mm worms. The GPS-supported computer control of the AutoStar II positions celestial objects from a 144,000-object database.

The MEADE StarLock is a highly precise system that enables precise object positioning and tracking. The two built-in cameras with different optics work together perfectly. The wide-field camera ensures rough positioning. The near-field camera can then position objects with an accuracy of up to one arc minute.

The alignment is also done via these two cameras. They bring the required alignment stars right into the center, as the basis for an optimal GoTo.

For maximum tracking accuracy, the StarLock works with permanent and automatic autoguiding. As soon as the telescope returns to tracking mode after a movement (e.g. after positioning a celestial object), the near-field camera automatically searches for a suitable guide star up to a maximum brightness of 11 magnitudes. This is then tracked until the telescope is moved again.

The Drift Alignment Assistant enables optimal parallactic alignment. The LX850 approaches a suitable star. The exact deviation of the telescope from the true celestial pole is calculated on the basis of a 30 second long picture with the wide field camera. The LX850 approaches the previously calculated true position. With the help of the fine adjustment of the mount, the telescope can now be set precisely to this point.
