Hyperbolic mirrors for a better picture:

The RC telescopes have hyperbolic main and secondary mirrors. No spherical mirrors, as in Schmidt-Cassegrain systems.

Photograph without corrector:

Use your DSLR or astro camera on your optics. You do not need another proofreader, for comfree and needle-fine stars to the edge. Steel tube for stable focus and high contrast
In addition to a good mirror, the tube made of steel plays a decisive role for good astrophotos. Compared to an aluminum tube, this Omegon RC has a 50% reduced focus shift. Exactly set stray light panels also provide a high contrast.

Large free opening: 3 "eyepiece
The rear end is particularly important: A ball-bearing 3 "linear Crayford extension gives you enough space to illuminate even large-format image fields without vignetting.A hybrid of Crayford and guide rail reveals the ease of a Crayford extract and the stability of a good Rack & Pinion extract.

Better picture than with a SC telescope
First, an RC telescope is designed completely differently than a classic SC or Maksutov telescope. Without a correction plate, it is an open system that adapts to the ambient temperature faster than an SC telescope. Due to the missing plate at the front, the telescope also achieves brighter pictures without the danger of reflections. Ritchey-Chretien systems are the most highly corrected two-mirror telescopes. The field and edge sharpness is impressive. So it is no wonder why practically all major research telescopes in the professional careers use these optics.

Now they are affordable
Making hyperbolic mirrors is a science and an art. Until a few years ago, the RC telescopes were therefore among the most expensive telescopes in the world. Only international institutes used them for research. But now this technique is also available for experienced amateur astronomers.
