Product information "Vixen SX2WL A80Mf telescope set"
SX2WL A80Mf telescope set with mount, tripod and eyepieces
The A80Mf Refractor is an ideal entry-level model for astronomy newbies who value high quality. The 80 mm lens impresses with excellent optical properties thanks to Vixen quality controls. Two Plössl eyepieces (6.3 mm and 20 mm) and a 90° zenith mirror are already included in the scope of delivery.
Explore the moon and the brighter planets with the A80Mf. On good nights you can observe the rings of the planet Saturn and the two brightest cloud bands on Jupiter become visible. If the weather permits, you can even see the large red spot on the planet. On moonless nights you can also observe the Andromeda Nebula or the Orion Nebula.
The sturdy metal eyepiece extension enables safe and stable mounting of eyepieces, cameras or other accessories. With the 6x24 finder you can find celestial objects very quickly and easily. You can also connect your DSLR camera to the telescope with an optional T-adapter via the T2 thread built into the eyepiece extension.
The sturdy metal tripod enables vibration-free recording of the telescope and mount even in windy weather.
The ultra-modern SX2WL mount is simply operated via a WiFi module with your smartphone or tablet.
By simply controlling the mount with your smartphone or tablet and using the free STAR BOOK Wireless app, you can easily use celestial navigation functions such as automatic GoTo panning to many celestial objects.
By eliminating the conventional LCD display (STAR BOOK TEN), the power consumption on the mount is reduced by up to 20%, thus enabling longer astronomical observation and astrophotography.
If you tap the desired celestial object on the star map, it is automatically panned into the field of view of the telescope and tracking begins.
NOTE: An existing STAR BOOK TEN or ONE controller can also be used on this mount without any problems.
Equipped with the same precision stepper motors as the top model, the AXD mount, the SX2WL brings a new standard of performance and precision to the Vixen mount family. The axis cross of the mount is just 7 kg light with a photographic load capacity of 12 kg and is therefore ideal for mobile observations. In addition, the motors attached to the lower part of the mount also serve as a counterweight and the mount therefore requires fewer weights for balancing.
The SX2WL mount in detail
Precision stepper motors and micro-step motion control system
The heart of the SX2 are the precision stepper motors, which offer better performance and response than previous models. The micro-step motion control system scores with powerful yet very quiet drive characteristics, which are present in both fine movements and fast panning.
Built-in bearings
The bearings of the RA and DEC axes and the worm shafts have been significantly improved to reduce the load on the motors. This means that the motors move much more smoothly than in previous models.
High-precision worm gears
High-precision processing technologies eliminate errors in the worm gears. The running surfaces of the two worms and worm gears are manufactured particularly smooth and thus enable very precise tracking.
Declination axis as a counterweight
The massive motor units are built into the lower part of the declination axis so that the center of gravity of the SX2WL is below the intersection point of the RA and DEC axes. This means you need fewer additional counterweights.
Latitude setting
The latitude is adjustable between 0 and 70 degrees (divided into 3 zones and adjustable in +/- 15 degrees per zone, for high, medium and low latitudes); latitude scale in 2-degree increments; fine adjustment with a tangent screw head, approx. 0.8 degrees per turn.
Note
Pole finder PF-LII Art. X000327 optionally available
The wireless module in detail
The Vixen WiFi adapter for EQ mounts allows you to control your Vixen mount via a smartphone or tablet.
With the smartphone app "STAR BOOK Wireless" (free) you can do celestial navigation without any cables. The smartphone app "STAR BOOK Wireless" transforms your smartphone or tablet into a controller for the equatorial mount in no time. The response delay of the mount, which is considered the biggest disadvantage of wireless connections, has been reduced to a level comparable to that of wired models.
Reduced power consumption compared to conventional controls with LCD monitor
The power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%, enabling longer observations than with conventional wired controls such as the STAR BOOK TEN.
Operation similar to the STAR BOOK TEN control
The STAR BOOK Wireless app is structured in a similar way to what you already know from the STAR BOOK TEN control. Depending on the star map setting, it contains up to 259,000 celestial objects. Tap on a celestial object in the object list and start the GoTo. The mount now automatically moves to this target and brings it into the field of view of the telescope. All of the popular features of the STAR BOOK TEN are retained.
Convenient operation
When looking through the telescope, you operate the mount by swiping on the app's star map. Since there are no buttons, you simply slide your finger over the star map and can thus conveniently operate the mount.
Extensive astronomical data included
In addition to data on easily observable celestial bodies such as Messier objects, NGC objects, IC objects, this also includes the sun, moon, planets, comets and dwarf planets.
High-precision alignment
By aligning with one or two stars, you can already achieve a fairly precise positioning of the mount. By aligning with three or more stars, you can also achieve a high-precision alignment of the mount for high magnifications. The objects are then approached exactly and centrally in the field of view of your telescope.
The alignment information is saved and can be retained even when the device is turned off. By leaving the telescope in its current state after completing an observation without moving it, you can start the automatic installation with the same settings the next time you observe.
Individual setting options
As with the STAR BOOK TEN control, the app offers various individual settings, such as gear play compensation, night mode in red, autoguider, variable GoTo speed and LED brightness. You can also set the time of reversal of the lens tube (meridian flip) as desired. Even if the object moves south during tracking, you can prevent the telescope tube from reversing.
Important information: Cannot be used on old SX mounts with the old blue Star Book.
