Tip if the focus knob on your Maksutov comes loose:

On some Maksutovs, the focus knob comes loose from its axis, preventing the mirror from being adjusted smoothly.
This problem can be quickly resolved: tighten one or two small set screws on the focus knob using a small hex wrench.
