Adjusting SkyWatcher Maksutov SkyMax 150 or 180: Over three pairs of screws!

A tension and a compression screw, similar to those found on a Newtonian, allow for precise adjustment. For this, the Newtonian's primary mirror cell is tilted intrafocally and extrafocally, for example, on an artificial or real star. First, the coarse adjustment is performed at low magnification, followed by the fine adjustment at higher magnification.

Care should be taken to ensure that the adjustment screws are tightened relatively firmly at the end to prevent the Maksutov from becoming misaligned.

The adjustment screws on the SkyMax 90, 102, and 127 are arranged slightly differently. However, the adjustment works the same as on SkyWatcher's larger Maksutovs.

We calibrate each of these Maksutovs before shipping.
