Aluminum dew cap for 6" / 8" / 9.25" / 11" / 14"

The Celestron aluminum dew caps with dust protection lids are an indispensable accessory when using your Schmidt-Cassegrains. The dew cap reduces the cooling of the Schmidt plate towards the night sky and thus keeps the temperature above the dew point for longer, which prevents the formation of dew on the optics. In addition, the aluminum dew cap increases image contrast by preventing stray light from entering the telescope, allowing for better observation and astrophotography. construction

The aluminum dew cap fits perfectly on the 6" / 8" / 9.25" / 11" / 14" Celestron telescopes. The outside of the dew cap is a solid aluminum cylinder that does not deform or bend. Inside, the velvet lining absorbs stray light and moisture , which enables optimal contrast for observation and photography. Attach the dew cap to your telescope with the two adjustable clips so that the dust cover also fits perfectly is made of lightweight and durable aluminum. When you are not using the telescope, you can simply place the lid on the dew cap to protect the Schmidt plate from dust and pollen and with the dust cover on you can also quickly and easily capture darks for astrophotography. If you do astrophotography with a Schmidt-Cassegrain or EdgeHD with a Fastar/Hyperstar approach or with a RASA, you are probably familiar with the problem of cables hanging out of the dew canopy with the one integrated into the base of the dew canopy Cable management brings order to the cabling. With this outlet you can keep the necessary cables (including those for our dew protection heating rings) under control without light entering the system. There are also dovetail cutouts on the top and bottom of the telescope to allow the dew cap to fit any configuration.

They are a familiar sight on many telescopes, and not just in autumn: long dew caps, often supported by heating tapes, which have only one purpose: to prevent humidity from condensing on the optics as dew. Without dew protection, a night of observation will end prematurely if the temperature cools below the dew point. Passive dew protection A dew cap is the most common and cheapest protection against thawed optics. It should be at least twice as long as the diameter of the opening it protects. In refracting telescopes it is usually a fixed part of the tube and can be removed or inserted for transport. This is not a problem with the long and comparatively slim tube of a refractor. The situation is different with Schmidt-Cassegrains with their compact tubes with a large opening: Here the dew cap is similar in size to the tube itself. There are therefore two common types of dew caps for Schmidt-Cassegrains: Flexible dew caps are made of a light, weatherproof material and are shaped with a Velcro fastener. They can be folded flat for transport to save space and thus offer a cheap and simple method so that observation nights do not end prematurely.
