Products description

Adjusting a focuser of the Skywatcher Explorer PDS series

If you ever find yourself in the situation of having to adjust an eyepiece focuser of a Skywatcher Explorer PDS Newton, here is the procedure for you:

Required material:

Adjustment laser
Allen wrench size 1.5
Allen wrench size 2.0

Three pairs of screws (tension screw (1.5) and pressure screw (2.0)) are responsible for the adjustment.

To determine whether the eyepiece focuser (OAZ) moves parallel to the optical axis, an adjustment laser is inserted into the focuser. When the OAZ moves completely, the point of incidence of the laser beam on the primary mirror is observed.

If this moves, the axis of movement of the OAZ is not parallel to the optical axis. At the moment it does not matter how the secondary mirror is positioned. It is only a question of whether the laser beam moves safely.

If the laser beam does not remain constant on the spot, the OAZ is adjusted by means of the three pairs of screws.
