Adjusting the Meade ETX Maksutov isn't convenient. You have to remove the rear cover to access the adjustment screws. You have to do the adjustment "blindly," as you can't look through an eyepiece to see how far you need to turn the screws. To see where you've adjusted, you have to screw the cover back on to see through the eyepiece, as the eyepiece mount is located on this cover.

To adjust through an eyepiece, you have to drill holes in the cover above the adjustment screws. This allows you to access these screws with an Allen key. After adjustment, the holes can be sealed with a sticker.
