Hi Frank, how did you get into this hobby?
I was interested in space from a very early age, anything to do with rockets and telescopes. I remember the TV series "Our Cosmos" in the 80s and the first Space Shuttle launch; I was six years old then.
But I never had the money to pursue astrophotography as a child or teenager. I only got back into it in 2003, after finishing university. And I really got into it in 2006 with my first DSLR, the Canon 350D. Now I'm a guest relations manager at an astrofarm in Namibia, a member of the Capella team (the large telescope in one of the pictures, we call it Ganymede), and I write articles and publish photos in specialist magazines like Sterne und Weltraum (Stars and Space).
I also have my "baby," my YouTube channel astrophotocologne. Actually, I'm a musician by profession. These are my passions: music and astrophotography. I'm doing what I always wanted to do as a child. One as a profession, which is how I earn my living, and the other as a hobby, which is where I spend my money :-) I'm very grateful that I can pursue both of my passions. Thank you for the invitation to this mini interview series!
We thank Frank for the interview!
