Advanced Astrophotography by Umut Basören

Today we'd like to introduce you to astrophotographer and martial artist Umut Basören.

Hello Umut, it's great that you've taken the time to introduce yourself to our readers. How did you get into astrophotography?

First of all, thank you so much for this wonderful invitation, dear Rudi.

Well, quite simply, through Harald Lesch. This man, especially with his "Alpha Centauri" programs, inspired me a great deal in the past. Actually, the infinite expanse of space has fascinated me since childhood. Astronomy was and still is simply breathtaking for me!

Then, when I saw planetary images of Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, that was it (laughs). I absolutely wanted to take pictures like that myself. However, when I realized that planets aren't always ideal to photograph, my journey began in the equally wonderful field of deep-sky astrophotography. Yes, that's exactly how it all started a few years ago (grins).
