Altair Saber AZ Mount V2 for 2 telescopes - the alternative to the Giro

Altair Saber Azimuthal mount for a telescope or 2 telescopes in parallel
Suitable for tripods with Vixen Level (Vixen, Skywatcher, Berlebach ...) - holds telescopes up to 20kg dead weight "per side".

The new version 2.0 now has a 30mm precision bearing from Japan for even easier panning and higher capacity

Altair Saber AZ Mount for 2 telescopes

The Altair Saber alto-azimuth mount allows the attachment of a telescope or the parallel attachment of two telescopes. The mount is an effective azimuthal mount and holds telescopes up to 20kg at a deadweight of only 3.2kg. We also recommend the SABER mount as an alternative to the GIRO mount.

The Saber AZ mount has two large rotary knobs, with which you can set the friction (resistance to movement) freely, up to complete clamping. The horizontal and vertical adjustment allows you to approach every point on the earth or in the sky.

The operation is simple and intuitive. Just set the desired resistance and adjust the telescope, binoculars or spotting scope as you wish. Once you have the subject in the field of view, you can start watching immediately. You do not need to pinch anything. That's perfect Dobson feeling.

The mount comes with a long and a short arm. The long arm is for longer tubes, e.g. Refractors. This is a swinging possible and the refractor does not hit the tripod. The shorter arm is for short-length telescopes, e.g. RC or Cassegrains.

The Saber mount is delivered without tripod and prism clamps, you can choose:

The Saber AZ mount is compatible with TS Optics prism clamps, you can also purchase the Altair TMS clamps. The mount has on both bearing surfaces matching internal thread for easy installation of all common prism terminals.

For the one-sided installation of telescopes from 6kg dead weight we recommend a counterweight to the balance. It does not take the entire telescope weight to be compensated. The weight balance makes the movement more sensitive and prevents very heavy and thick telescopes from falling over.

The counterweight holder "Sabre-CW-EXT" is suitable for counterweights with 20mm hole (Celestron, Vixen, Skywatcher ...)

Suitable tripods for the Saber mount:

The Saber AZ mount is suitable for many common tripods on the market. We especially recommend the DX tripod (see accessory recommendations) but also the Berlebach UNI tripods are excellently suited. Basically, you can use all the stands of Celestron Advanced mounts, Skywatcher EQ3, EQ5 and HEQ5 or Vixen tripods.
