Contamination on the lenses disrupts the image
Contaminants (such as lint and loose deposits in the tube) on the lenses interfere with the image and can create unsightly diffraction patterns when observing and photographing.
These can usually be easily removed with compressed air (a blower or similar device). If they are on the inside of the lenses, the lens cell must be removed. This allows you to blow out the inside of the tube at the same time.
We use an airbrush compressor with several water separators and an airbrush gun for this purpose.
