Double Stack: Every SolarMax telescope is also available with Double Stack. This means that two Etalon filters are installed one behind the other. As a result, the half-width of the width of the transmitted light of the H-alpha line decreases to less than 0.5 angstroms. Without a double stack, the half width is less than 0.7 angstroms. In the product name and the technical data of the telescopes the half width is indicated.

The smaller half width is noticeable as higher contrast. The structures on the sun are three-dimensional. The picture is also darker and it must be readjusted by the narrower half width of the filter with the tuning system finer.



With this etalon filter, you can equip your SolarMax telescope with a second H-alpha filter (doublestacking). The etalon is simply screwed onto the lens. In the case of a SolarMax II telescope, you will need the matching adapter ring from the accessories recommendation. Like the telescope's built-in filter, this etalon is also equipped with the RichView system, which allows for fine tuning of the filter.

The etalon filter must not be used without a block filter! Of course, the block filter is already installed in the SolarMax telescope.



RichView ™ & T-Max tuning: The H-alpha filter is a so-called etalon. In the etalon, most of the radiation in the visible spectral range is extinguished by destructive interference of the incident light. Only the desired wavelength around 656 nanometers comes through.

For this to succeed, the width of the etalon must be set exactly and readjusted during observation. Point the telescope at the sun and focus with the focus on the edge of the sun. Turn the large turntable of the RichView ™ system until the structures on the sun are visible in maximum contrast. Then you can easily tilt the inclination of the Etalon over the small Max-Tuning-wheel, in order to reach the maximum image brightness.
