Experience Celestron C14 SC on AYOmaster II mount
Hello Mr. Kloss,
I promised at the time – when I returned the mount to you – that I would give feedback on the practicality of using a Celestron C14 on an AYOmaster II. Now everything is in place, and I've attached two photos. It actually works very well. However, two things should be noted:
1. As you can see in one of the photos, I have a special 3-inch Losmandy mount made by Beat Kohler. You should use one of those, because the tube tends to swing on the included rail (it's simply too narrow to absorb the force generated by the lever and the 20 kg or more).
2. The Berlebach Planet is also sufficient. However, it doesn't take much force to tip the setup if the C14's center of gravity is between two of the three legs. If it's level with one leg, you can't knock it over even with more force.
Even if it's positioned between the legs, it would never fall over on its own. However, I'll add a weight to the left side for safety. Not because the mount would otherwise have problems, but simply to protect it in case someone bumps into it, but also against stronger winds.
Best regards, Ü.
