Experience ZWO ASI290MM mini on Lunt LS50 H-Alpha solar telescope
1.009 / 5.000
The ZWO ASI290MM mini was given to me as a gift with the promise that I would now be able to take decent images of the sun in the H-alpha range. As mentioned, since it was a gift, I can't comment on the advice I received from the telescope specialists, but I assume that, as usual, it was very detailed and honest, because photographing our home star in combination with the Lunt LS50 is a true joy.
The camera can be mounted behind the Lunt's blocking filter without much experimentation, and the sensor is immediately in focus. Because it's a mono camera, more detail is possible. The only drawback, if you can call it that, is the fact that the solar disk doesn't fit completely on the sensor. To get an overall image of the sun, you need to create a mosaic from two images.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact details of the images. Some were taken with a Barlow lens, some without.
