Experience and recordings with Dwarf 3

I have nothing but good things to say about the Dwarf3. Setting up the app and the device was incredibly easy thanks to the German language support. Without the EQ mode, you can expose for up to 30 seconds. Simply set it up, the Dwarf3 calibrates itself, and then either searches for predefined objects or suggests what's currently visible in the sky. The EQ mode is also incredibly easy to set up. Roughly point it north, roughly set the angle, start the setup, and it tells you how to adjust the angles. It was done in a maximum of 5 minutes. Then exposure times of up to 60 seconds are possible. Dark frames for common applications are included. You can also easily create your own.

Astrophotographers might turn up their noses, but I think for the effort and the low cost, the Dwarf3 is more than worth the money and I highly recommend it.

Attached are some photos I took with the Dwarf3. Maximum exposure time of 30 seconds over several nights. There's definitely room for improvement. The Orion Nebula is, of course, a rewarding subject.
