Experience photography with the ZWO ASI120MC-S

The ZWO ASI120MC-S was purchased not only for autoguiding, but also for photographing the sun, moon, and planets. Since it's often useful to film objects in the solar system and stack the individual images using software, it's advantageous if the camera supports a high data flow. This is possible with the ASI120MC-S thanks to its USB3 interface.

It's also very easy to use, as only a USB cable connects the camera to a laptop or similar device. Then all you need is some recording software (e.g., Firecapture), and the photo setup is ready.

The planetary photos were taken with the TS Photon 6" f/5 on NEQ5 and a 1.25" TS 2x Barlow. The moon photo was taken with an 8" f/6 TS Deluxe Dobsonian with a 1.25" TS 2x Barlow on a tracking platform and is a mosaic of several individual images. The solar photos were taken with the Lunt LS50 on the NEQ5 without a Barlow lens. It should be noted that getting the ASI on the Lunt isn't exactly easy and requires some fiddling. This applies to the sensor distance as well as focusing with the helical focuser on the Lunt.
