Experience using SkyWatcher Explorer 200PDS, Nomad 4x Barlow and ZWO ASI715MC on the Moon
Hi Karl,
Thanks for the brilliantly coordinated product package—here’s a quick look at my first impressions:
The new Skywatcher 200 PDS is simply fantastic! The tube is more rigid—with thicker walls—and the front aperture ring has been reinforced (switched from plastic to aluminum); the whole tube now holds its collimation better, and the focuser has been improved, too. It’s great... it’s a real joy to use.
The ZWO ASI715MC camera delivers top-notch images! It’s incredibly easy to operate using the ZWO software, SharpCap, or similar programs... you get brilliant, high-resolution images of the Moon in seconds.
The whole setup is topped off by the SkyWatcher Nomad 4 teleconverter—the images look so close you could almost touch them, or like you’re viewing or photographing the lunar surface from a space capsule.
As always, you’re in good hands and get excellent advice from you and the team of telescope specialists...
Many thanks again for the great advice.
Best regards from Herzogenaurach,
Michael
P.S. Here’s a snapshot of the lunar crater Alphonsus—200PDS / ZWO ASI715MC / Nomad 4x. Unfortunately, the seeing wasn't perfect, but you still get a great idea of what this equipment is capable of...
