Hello Mr. Kloss,

Here's a first impression of the ZWO ASI-533 astrocamera.

The skies have offered little opportunity for a first test recently.
It was cloudless, but the stars were flickering, plus there was snow, and the sky background was quite bright.
Not ideal conditions, but I still want to give it a try.
The first object is M101, which is high in the sky.
I move to a bright nearby star and focus with the Bahtinov mask.
Then I pan to M101.

In combination with the Newton 200PDS, coma corrector, and ASI Studio, the camera is easily recognized. Cooling to -10°C was no problem in the cold.
With a 1-second exposure, the camera already delivers an image that is sufficient for centering the object. Very pleasant to work with.
Then 20 lights with 300 seconds. and Gain 200, plus 10 darks.

The classic M42 is only exposed for 30 seconds to prevent the center from burning out.
Test shots with different exposure times are mandatory.

Attached are the results. Only ASI Studio, DSS, and Capture One software were used.
There is no gain glow.

It does take some time to get used to the camera,
but then the ASI-533 shows what's possible.
The sensor size is suitable for many objects in the night sky.
The sun and moon fit perfectly into the frame at a focal length of 1000 mm!

I am completely satisfied with the camera and am looking forward to a dark sky with calm air.
