Info: Design and production of a double tube clamp for different telescopes.

For the mounting of two refractors (TS100 f711 and Evostar 120/900) a double tube clamp was needed. The motivation was the space-saving mounting (a third telescope should be mounted on the Skywatcher AZ-EQ6 Pro) and the "automatic" parallelism of the two telescopes.

Here is the prototype made of nylon CoPA 6.6/6. A few details were still not right here:

• one tube clamp was printed too thin (it was the first print)
• the height of the upper mounting surfaces were different (they were lower on the smaller telescope diameter)
• the material was unsuitable, it deformed

The MkII version has improved these details:

The two add.ons have the following functions:

• the black box is the control unit for the Solar-Spectrum Sunyancer II, with which the central wavelength is adjusted
• the ZWO ASI 120 Mini with the astrosolar foil ND5.0 from Baader Planetarium should serve as an electronic solar finder. However, the focal length of the original lenses is too small, so there is still a need for further development here.

These tube clamps are stable, do not warp and have sufficient parallelism for the application.
