Meade telescope ACF-SC 152/1524 UHTC LX85 GoTo

The LX85 series is ideal for ambitious beginners or experienced observers who also want to tap into astrophotography.
Advanced Coma-free Optics (ACF): The optical design ACF from Meade suppresses the typical aberrations of all mirror optics. Thanks to ACF, the stars are also punctiform at the edge of the image field, so they do not show any elongated distortions that are reminiscent of comets. The field of view is flatter than with classic Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. ACF optics show their strengths particularly in astrophotographic applications.

Ultra-High Transmission Coatings (UHTC): This special multi-layer coating on the front correction plate ensures up to 15% higher light transmission. The result: brighter star clusters, finer details in nebulous objects and more surface details on the planet!


The LX85 mount is designed for mobile astrophotography. With its powerful servomotors and Meade Smart Drive technology, it follows the sky and keeps the telescope aligned with the desired object for long exposure times - without having to flip through the meridian!

The LX85 mount is particularly light and therefore ideal for mobile use in the garden or an observation location under a particularly dark sky.
The GoTo control AudioStar helps with the correct alignment of the telescope and automatically moves to the desired observation object. This is also ideal for beginners!
The LX85 mount allows the connection of an autoguider for precise tracking control.
Versatility: The LX85 mount follows the usual standard for attaching telescopes. It can therefore be used with most commercially available telescopes up to 15kg in weight.


Meade offers the mount with a large selection of excellent optics in a set: inexpensive Newtonian telescopes, Maksutov optics for moon and planet specialists, ACF optics that can be used for almost all astronomical purposes and even high-quality apochromats for demanding photographers!

The AudioStar hand control contains a database of 30,000 celestial objects. Once aligned in the sky, AudioStar can point the telescope at each of these objects and keep it centered in the eyepiece - of course only if the object is just above the horizon. This so-called GoTo functionality is supplemented by further features, such as guided tours, position display and connection to the PC.

A special highlight of the AudioStar control is the built-in loudspeaker. The integrated astronomer inside technology offers over four hours of speech output (only in English). The built-in astronomer knows interesting things to report about the celestial object set in the control!

Meade Smart Drive: Since the telescope shows the celestial object enlarged, an astronomical mount must run very precisely. Even small fluctuations interfere with longer exposure times. However, there are always small fluctuations because the worm shaft of the gear unit cannot be perfectly round. However, these recurring fluctuations can be recognized and compensated for by the computer control. The Smart Drive technology enables this permanent periodic error correction (PPEC).
