Moon images in turbulent air motion with an STF Mirage 7 and an ASI 178MC on January 19, 2024
At first I wanted to give up because of the turbulence. Good thing I resisted that.
Equipment:
Telescope: STF Mirage 7 (number 3 of 31 built)
Camera: ASI 178MC
Mount: Celestron AVX
Image 1:
Sunrise for Clavius and Tycho, Maginus in detailed splendor. - Clavius has just seen the first segments in the light, structures can be clearly seen here.
Picture 2:
In Archimedes you can see some small craters. Always a criterion for good optics. Especially given the conditions, it is astonishing that the small craters were dissolved. Here the very good optics complement the small pixels of the camera.
Crater details and faults in the plains were a beautiful and rewarding subject for me.
The images were edited with PhotoShop C2 - a (in my estimation) 20 year old freeware program and Fitswork (to smooth the image with NLM).
Best regards
