The mount:

When designing the Star Discovery mount, the Sky-Watcher engineers remembered the following words: A simple mount that is truly suitable for astronomy, helping beginners to effectively discover the night sky and become a tool that supports their passion. With the motors in both axes, the Star Discovery can automatically guide the telescope to any object that contains the SynScan ™ hand control with its database of over 42,900 objects, such as: Messier, IC, NGC, and Caldwell, as well as planets, named stars, binary stars, variable stars, and custom objects such as comets. The awesome new Sky-Watcher Star Discovery mount is an upgrade of the AZ GoTo mount and includes the FreedomFind ™ dual encoder technology. This allows, once the telescope has been set up, to move it manually or by motor without losing the position data. After you have directed the mount on a new object, this leads back to accurate. This gives the user tremendous freedom and flexibility during the observations.

An ideal small travel mount or for home, fast observation with Goto computer control! The mount carries telescopes up to 5kg. A normal Vixen / Skywatcher prism rail is enough to connect your small telescope. You can also conveniently mount a spotting scope or a telephoto camera using the optional L-holder.


This mount is ideal for our compact refractors, which allow you to enjoy sky, nature and wildlife viewing AND are suitable and designed as a telephoto lens for easy and good shooting. The load capacity for instruments up to 4 kg is given, so you can easily use any telephoto lens or the compact refractors from our range! Please take a look under our heading "Refractors".
