Under the leadership of Telescope Service, this high-quality Photoline Triplet-APO with the FPL53 element from Ohara (Japan) has been developed as the optimal travel apochromate.

Even with the highest magnification, the image remains without disturbing color errors and with excellent correction. It is one of the best and most powerful 80 mm apos which we have seen. The bright aperture ratio of f / 6 not only keeps the refractor very short and compact, it also ensures short exposure times for astrophotography.

Photography:

The large back focus of 138 mm allows enough space for flatteners, the low focal length allows wide picture fields, the high aperture ratio of 1: 6 allows short exposure times.

This speaks very well for a photographic suitability, but due to the low weight and the compact design one needs only a light mount, which is always advantageous on journeys.

A search telescope or an off-axis guider is recommended for tracking because the weight of a guide tube with guide tube clamps would negate the weight advantage of the TLAPO804. Appropriate accessories can be found in the recommendations.

The improved 2 "-Crayford eyepiece with threaded connector and 1: 11 micro-mount

The 2 "-Crayford eyepiece with 1: 11 support provides a clear focus and keeps cameras and eyepieces up to approx. 3 kg without any problems.The ball bearings are reinforced, which also prevents tilting, and the extension can be rotated by 360 ° .

Many astrophotographers prefer a complete screw connection of the camera and the accessories. The 2 "plug-in adapter can be unscrewed and replaced by the adapter TSFOC-M48 (refer to the accessory recommendations). The adapter offers the M48 connection and allows the complete screw connection of correctors for astrophotography.

When used as a telephoto lens during the day, it is necessary to use neutral filters because of the lack of iris diaphragm, but otherwise the apochromat is very suitable for this purpose, also due to the high-quality coating.

Visual usage:

With three eyepieces (or two eyepieces and a Barlow lens) you can cover the entire sensible magnification range, plus a zenith mirror for the astronomical and a 45 ° amphragm for terrestrial use.

When a 2 "eyepiece with a maximum field diaphragm diameter is used, you get 5.5 ° true field of view. Since commercially available 9x50 viewfinders at best have 6.1 °, the purchase of such an accessory is not necessary here - as a wide field instrument, the telescope covers the visual field Tasks of a seeker.

High magnifications are available, and this telescope differs from equal-sized achromats of similar focal length, also possible without problems thanks to the excellent color correction of the triplet lens.

Thus, little space is required in the travel bag to simultaneously have a telephoto lens, a spotting scope and an astronomical telescope for a large magnification range.
