The large sunspot group in H-alpha light with refractor - PST - conversion already shown here

Before the group of sunspots disappeared behind the limb of the sun, I took another image in H-alpha light.

Equipment:
An old Bresser 100/1000 refractor with a PST box.
I shortened the refractor enough to get into focus with the PST box (without the gold tube for the optics) and connected it with the adapter (also available here in the shop). So I was able to build everything myself.

A Bresser Deep Sky HD camera.
It fits perfectly with the system; I can get into focus with it, and the images turn out well, the pixel size is right, and the chip is large enough to adequately capture the image field (limited by the small PST with a correspondingly small blocking filter).

A 10 cm diameter energy-cutting filter is placed in front of the optics. Of course, it never works without it!

The whole system works well and is affordable for me. Of course, it has its limits, and an expensive solar telescope offers even more. But then it costs... everything has its price!

The image has been edited, of course. I edited the color image in PS C2 (freeware about 20 years ago ;-), converted it to monochrome, inverted it, and colored it with Affinity so that the structures are pleasing to the eye and clear.

The air movement was extremely strong; with calmer air, a little more could have been achieved here (a little more sharpness, for example). But the physical limits remain real and defined for every system; there's nothing you can do about it.
