The Heart Nebula is an emission nebula with an open star cluster at its center.
The open star cluster is also known as Melotte 15, Collinder 26, Raab 11, and IC 1805. The latter is sometimes used to refer to the entire nebula.
The Soul Nebula is also an emission nebula.
Several small open star clusters are embedded within this nebula: Cr 34, Cr 632, and Cr 634 in the head, and IC 1848 in the body. The object is also commonly known by the name of the latter star cluster, IC 1848.
Both nebulae are located in the constellation Cassiopeia.
The cover image is a mosaic of both.
