Vixen 100mm f / 3.8 APO Refractor Astrograph 5-element Correction to medium format

Vixen VSD100 f / 3.8 5-element Flatfield APO - Correction to medium format is the successor to the legendary PENTAX SDUF Apos. It is a very fast refractor for the demanding astrophotograph

With five lens elements in five groups, this refractor is free from color errors and optimized for astrophotography. The flat image field allows the photography up to the 645-medium format camera. An SD lens in the front lens group and an ED lens in the rear group are used to achieve excellent color correction. The blue halos around stars, which are perceptible in astrophotography, are successfully corrected. In addition, astigmatism as well as coma and aberrations will be corrected to an extremely high level.

The astrograph is ideally suited to photograph weak stars and extended objects with large camera sensors to medium format. The illumination is 70mm in diameter. The star images have a size of 15 micrometers up to the ceiling. The image field is optimally leveled.

The manufacturing process uses state-of-the-art remuneration. These have been developed to optimize the characteristics of each lens element without a deterioration of contrast and light intensity in the case of several lenses. The light transmittance is 99.9%, providing excellent bright and high-contrast images.

The oversized eyepiece can also easily accommodate 645 medium format cameras. Due to the vernier scale, an accurate reading of the focus on 20 micrometers is possible. All gradations are engraved. The corrugated large rubber focusing ring can easily be operated with gloves. A large CCD camera can be connected to the focusser. The focusser can be operated without play and easily.

The long dew cap and the screens installed inside the optics prevent reflections and ghosting. The large and thick rubber ring on the top of the dew cap absorbs shocks and protects the optics.
