The SXD2 mount in detail
By combining the best features of the Sphinx series and a new hand control, the STAR BOOK TEN, Vixen has developed a new generation of SX mounts for demanding observers and astrophotographers.
The SXD2 mount comes complete with the new STAR BOOK TEN control and can be operated both manually and fully computer-controlled.
With the same precision stepper motors as the top model AXD mount, the SXD2 brings a new level of performance to the Vixen mount family. The SXD2 is quieter and smoother in its tracking than the SX mounts and the increased precision of the motors enables improved performance for long exposures in astrophotography.

Precision stepper motors and micro-step motion control system
The heart of the SXD2 are the precision stepper motors, which offer better performance and response than previous models. The Micro-Step motion control system has powerful yet very smooth drive characteristics, which are realized in both a fine movement and a fast pan.

Built-in bearings
The bearings of the R.A. and DEC axes and the worm shafts have been significantly improved to reduce the load on the motors. The movement of the motors is therefore much smoother than in previous models.

More robust R.A. and DEC shafts
High-precision and thick steel shafts in R.A. and DEC increase the robustness of the SXD2 mount.

High-precision worm gears
High-precision processing technologies eliminate errors in the worm gears. The edges of the two worms and worm gears are particularly smooth and thus achieve very high precision.

Declination axis serves as a counterweight
The massive motor units are arranged in the lower part of the declination axis so that the center of gravity of the SXD2 is below the intersection point of the R.A. and DEC axes. This means that fewer additional counterweights are required.

The SD115S in detail
The ED81SII, ED103S, ED115S refractors were originally developed for the visual observer or photographer with APS-C cameras. However, the new SD series has also been optimized for the use of full-format cameras by replacing new inner apertures and illuminates a format of 44 mm.
The SD 115 ED refractor is the largest refractor from Vixen.
It impresses with an extremely high contrast and sharpness thanks to the FPL-53 glass.
This type of glass produces an extremely color-pure and high-contrast image.
Another advantage of the SD refractors is their very short length and low weight.
