Altair GPCAM3 290C USB3 Color Camera/Guider
The Altair GPCAM3 290C color camera is equipped with the Sony Exmor IMX290 CMOS sensor. This features very high sensitivity and extremely low read noise.

The camera can be used for solar, planetary and lunar photography as well as for deep sky long time lapse photography and of course for video astronomy. All-sky time-lapse photography (with optional meteor lens) is fully supported by the software. Amplifier glow is very well suppressed, which also makes this sensor a good choice for deep-sky photography or video astronomy.

The SONY Exmor IMX290 color CMOS sensor has 2.9-micron pixels and a large 1920x1080 array with 2.07 megapixels. It is also BSI (Backside Illuminated), which means it is backside illuminated.

Data transfer is via USB3.0, making the camera usable on older computers/laptops without restriction.

The housing has an external heat sink surface that dissipates the heat generated by the electronics and reduces thermal noise.

The USB 3.0 port is a high mechanical strength type.

The camera is delivered with a 12-month license of the SharpCap PRO software, the download runs via the corresponding support page of the manufacturer.
