ATIK Horizon color astro camera cooled, with CMOS sensor
The Atik Horizon is Atik's first CMOS camera. Atik is one of the first professional CCD camera manufacturers to open up this interesting technology. A state-of-the-art 16 MP Panasonic sensor offers a sensitivity previously only dreamed of with CCD cameras. In addition, the sensor convinces with an extremely low readout noise, the image is smoother and low-noise, even with very short exposure times.

The "single-shot" color camera offers more convenience than monochrome cameras. Not everyone wants to go through the complex L-RGB process for beautiful colored fog shots. The color cameras give you the opportunity to get nice pictures without changing the filter. However, good broadband fog filters (see recommended accessories) reduce the scattered light and increase the contrast without having to be changed or coloring the image too much.

Amplifier glow is prevented.
Horizon cameras from ATIK have a built-in 256 MB DDR3 image buffer. This prevents amplifier glow and other artifacts that can result from USB 2.0 data transfer.

Quartz glass protective glass with full IR transmission
The protective glass lets the IR light through. The good sensitivity of the sensor beyond H-alpha also enables the exciting use of infrared photography with suitable optics. The protective glass has already proven itself with the Atik cameras and also prevents dew.

More than "just" Ascom compatible:
Atik provides an ASCOM driver so you can run the camera with your favorite software such as MaximDL. In addition, the camera is also compatible with the proven Artemis Capture software. This software allows full camera control.

The camera is also compatible with the innovative Infinity Live Stacking Software. This software makes astrophotography easier than ever and goes particularly well with the Atik Horizon cameras.

Horizon II improvements
The exciting development of the camera is the result of extensive research and development work by the Atik team; this has resulted in the improved electronics and greater variety of options that Horizon II allows. The camera now has three modes of operation, with Powersave and Fast modes available in addition to the default Normal mode.

In energy-saving mode, the camera generates images of the highest quality. Meanwhile, Fast Mode utilizes onboard DDR memory to deliver a constant stream of images.

Fast Mode boosts the Horizon II's frame rate to 8FPS, with further increases up to 100FPS possible through the use of subframing. This increases the experience of those using the camera for the planetary imagery, as the faster frame rate minimizes atmospheric distortion across a series of images.
