Products description

QHY 5-III-678M CMOS camera

Uncooled monochrome back-side illuminated CMOS camera 1/1.8-inch IMX678 CMOS sensor with 8.4 megapixels, resolution 3846 x 2180 pixels, pixel size 2.0 µm x 2.0 µm (7.7 x 4 .36mm)
Optional output of 8 or 12 bit data depth
Large internal image memory of 512 MB DDR 3
Readout noise between 3.3 e- and 0.56 e- depending on the GAIN setting
Developed as an autoguider with a very large field of view, as a high-resolution camera for planetary photography and as a high-sensitivity camera for entry-level deep-sky photography
Data transfer up to 41 frames per second (fps) at full resolution and 12-bit data depth - higher frame rates possible with smaller image sections (ROI – Region of Interest).
Fits directly into any 1.25" eyepiece mount
Stable and fast USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C interface (please note: The camera is only powered with the included USB 3.2 cable!
"Anti-Amplifier Glow Control" technology to reduce the readout glow against the amplifier during long exposures
With the latest heat dissipation technology and high-quality connection sockets from aircraft technology
Scope of delivery with 1¼ inch UV/IR blocking and 850nm methane band filter

QHY 5-III-678 M/C guiding and planetary camera

The QHY 5-III-678 M/C is the latest development of version 2 of the QHY 5III series of planetary and guiding cameras. The QHY 5 III 678 M/C can be considered an improved version of its predecessor, the QHY 5-III-178M CMOS Camera (#1931024 , ¤375).

Like the Sony IMX178, the new IMX 678 sensor from Sony is a back illuminated (BSI) sensor in 1/1.8 inch format. However, compared to the IMX178, it has higher resolution (smaller pixels) and higher QE, as well as increased sensitivity in the near-infrared (NIR) spectral range. In addition, the QHY 5-III -678 M/C camera modules have some improved functions such as

Larger internal image memory DDR 512MB
Improved front and end design
Compatibility with CS and C-mount lenses
More stable and faster USB 3.2 Type-C interface
Universal ST-4 guiding port
Control LED for a status display.
The new QHY 5-III-678 M/C has an interesting new feature, a removable M 28.5 filter holder with a built-in 12.5mm (1/2") UV/IR blocking filter.
If you remove this retaining ring together with the built-in 1/2" filter, all commercially available 1 1/4" filters can be screwed on instead, which enables interesting applications for imaging from UV far into the NIR range.
At the same time, however, the 1/2" filter standard also offers other options for using other filter types that are common in industry.
We describe further, detailed information about these functions here.
