Products description

TS 462C USB3.0 Color Astro Camera - CMOS Sensor with D=6.46 mm
The TS462C CMOS color camera offers high sensitivity and frame rate. The camera is suitable for sun, moon and planets, but also for deep sky objects.
♦ SONY STARVIS technology

♦ Strongly increased infrared sensitivity

♦ Sensor: 1/2.8" CMOS IMX462 with 2.1 megapixel resolution

♦ Sensor size: 5.6 mm x 3.2 mm - diagonal: 6.46 mm

♦ Very high resolution: 2.9 µm pixels

♦ USB 3.0 for fast download of images

♦ Very low readout noise (max. 2.6 e-)

♦ 12 bit ADC, switchable to 10 bit

♦ 256 MByte DDR3 cache improves performance especially at USB 2.0 ports

♦ Tilting mechanism against Newton rings

♦ DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) removes the annoying dead (hot and cold) pixels from the image

♦ No IR blocking filter - the increased infrared sensitivity can be fully utilized

♦ ST4-level autoguiding interface included

♦ Hexagonal housing does not roll away when put down

TS-Optics TS462C USB3.0 color astro camera - 6.46 mm diagonal CMOS sensor
The TS-Optics TS462C camera is equipped with a modern 1/2.8" sensor. Very high frame rates, high sensitivity and a high resolution due to especially small pixels result in a camera that can deliver detailed results even in turbulent air, which are also suitable for stacking. The TS462C is particularly suitable for:

♦ Detailed planetary photography
♦ Details of the lunar surface
♦ Sun details (with suitable filter)
♦ Photography of (small) brighter nebulae and star clusters - exposure time up to 2000 seconds is possible
♦ Infrared photography to reduce the influence of seeing, thus sharper luminance channel
♦ Autoguiding camera (autoguiding port is available).

Features and advantages of the camera:

♦ Extremely high infrared sensitivity (important for reducing the effects of seeing).
♦ Versatile use
♦ Easy adaptation due to T2 thread connection
♦ Resolution: 1944x1096 pixels
♦ HCG mode from gain 80 reduces readout noise and raises the dynamic range back to that of LCG mode at gain 0.
♦ 12 bit ADC, switchable to 10 bit for more speed.
♦ 136 frames per second at 10 bit ADC and RAW8, 64 frames per second at 12 bit and RAW16.
♦ Long time exposure up to 2000 seconds possible
♦ Tilting adjustable
♦ DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) eliminates disturbing dead pixels (hot and cold) from the image
♦ Extremely low readout noise at very high sensitivity
♦ Hexagonal aluminum housing with T2 connector and adapter for 1.25" slides
♦ No infrared cut filter integrated - IR imaging to reduce seeing effects is possible
♦ Autoguider connection
♦ Protection against overvoltage and excessive current

Downloads
Drivers can be downloaded from TS:

Generally required: Windows drivers (be sure to install before connecting the camera for the first time!).

For deep sky recording software, the installation of an ASCOM platform is often necessary: ASCOM6.5 platform

The ASCOM platform needs suitable camera drivers: ASCOM6.5 camera driver

Recording software is best found on the vendors' websites:

SharpCap as versatile software for planetary imaging is preferably downloaded from the manufacturer: Download page of the manufacturer

There are a constantly changing number of deep sky imaging programs with guiding and image pre-processing, Google and Wikipedia can help here. However, if you don't need guiding, you can also use SharpCap for deep-sky photography.
