Products description

TS-Optics TS174C USB3.0 COLOR astro camera - air cooling - sensor D=13.4 mm

The TS174C Color Apollo with 2.3 MP from Teleskop-Service is a powerful deep-sky astro camera with air cooling - also well suited for solar photography.
♦ Sony IMX174 color sensor with 13.4 mm diagonal (11.34 x 7.13 mm)

♦ 5.86 µm pixels - well suited for all telescopes

♦ Good sensitivity also for deep sky

♦ USB 3.0 for fast image download

♦ 256 MByte DDR3 cache improves performance, especially on USB 2.0 ports

♦ Tilting mechanism against Newton rings

♦ DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) eliminates the annoying dead (hot and cold) pixels from the image

♦ AR protection glass built in - the camera is also sensitive in the IR

♦ Includes ST4-level autoguiding interface - can be used as a powerful autoguider

♦ PCS cooling - reduces the sensor temperature during long exposures

♦ Also ideal for sun photography (no banding)

♦ Back focus (distance between sensor and T2 thread) is 12.5 mm

♦ 1/4" photo tripod connection thread on the back of the housing

♦ ASCOM drivers and drivers for NOVA, SharpCap, Firecapture ... available (link at the end of the description)

TS-Optics TS174C color astro camera for deep sky, sun and planets
The TS174C of the Apollo series is a powerful color astro camera with the modern SONY IMX174 sensor. The large field and the good resolution of 5.86 µm pixels make the camera a good all-rounder for the moon, planets and deep sky.

The "single-shot" color camera offers more convenience than monochrome cameras. Not everyone wants to go through the complex L-RGB process for beautiful colored nebula images or planetary images. The color cameras give you the opportunity to get nice pictures without changing the filter.

Deep Sky Astrophotography:
The large sensor with a diagonal of 13.4 mm makes the camera well suited for photography of nebulae, star clusters and galaxies. A corrector will not be necessary in most cases. The Sony sensor is very sensitive, so that even faint objects can be imaged well within a few minutes. Due to the large 5.86 µm pixels, the camera is well suited for different telescopes from f/4 and weaker. It can also be used on camera lenses.

Lunar and planetary photography:
We recommend an effective aperture ratio of around 1:20 to 1:30 to achieve good resolution. This can be achieved very well with good Barlow lenses.

sun photography:
The TS174 is very good at photographing the sun, both in white light and in H-alpha. The sensor tilting, which the TS174 also offers, helps against the Newton rings in sun photography.

Use as an autoguider:
The TS174 is lightweight at just 180 grams. It hardly puts any strain on the focuser. The camera naturally offers the ST-4 autoguiding interface. A 2 meter autoguiding cable is also included.

Anti-reflective clear glass filter protects the sensor from dust
The clear glass filter prevents dust from entering the sensor. It also transmits UV and infrared, so you can also do infrared photography with the camera. With the right selection of contrast filters, fog filters or UV/IR blocking filters, you have full control of which light falls on the sensor.

DPS technology against "Hot and Dead Pixel"
The DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) analyzes dark recordings and selects the interfering pixels. These interfering pixels are overwritten in the recordings (light) and then no longer appear. The picture becomes smoother. The technology works similar to a dark frame.

Air cooling - reduces the sensor temperature
The sensor heats up during recording. The PCS dissipates the heat from the sensor via a thermal pad. The sensor temperature is reduced by up to 15 degrees compared to cameras without PCS.
