Products description

TS-Optics TS290M USB3.0 SW astro camera - CMOS sensor with D=6.46 mm

The TS290M CMOS monochrome camera offers high sensitivity and frame rate. The camera is suitable for sun, moon and planets, but also for deep sky objects.
♦ SONY STARVIS technology

♦ Sensor: 1/2.8" CMOS IMX290 with 2.1 megapixel resolution

♦ Sensor size: 5.6mm x 3.2mm - Diagonal: 6.46mm

♦ Very high resolution: 2.9 µm pixels

♦ USB 3.0 for quick image download

♦ Very low readout noise (max. 3.2 e-)

♦ 12 bit ADC, switchable to 10 bit

♦ 256 MByte DDR3 cache improves performance, especially on USB 2.0 ports

♦ Tilting mechanism against Newton rings

♦ DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) eliminates the annoying dead (hot and cold) pixels from the image

♦ No IR blocking filter - infrared can also be used

♦ Including ST4 level autoguiding interface

♦ Hexagonal housing does not roll away when set down

TS-Optics TS290M USB3.0 black and white astro camera - CMOS sensor with 6.46 mm diagonal
The TS-Optics TS290M camera is equipped with a modern 1/2.8" sensor. Very high frame rates, high sensitivity and high resolution thanks to particularly small pixels result in a camera that can deliver detailed results even in turbulent air, which are also suitable for stacking. The TS290M is particularly suitable for:

♦ Detailed planetary photography
♦ Details of the lunar surface
♦ Sun details (with appropriate filter)
♦ Photography of (small) brighter nebulae and star clusters - exposure time up to 2000 seconds is possible
♦ Images through line filters (sun and bright gas nebulae at H-alpha)
♦ Autoguiding camera (autoguiding connection is available)

Features and benefits of the camera:

♦ Versatile
♦ Simple adaptation with T2 thread connection
♦ Resolution: 1944x1096 pixels
♦ 12 bit ADC, switchable to 10 bit for more speed
♦ 136 frames per second with 10 bit ADC and RAW8, 64 frames per second with 12 bit and RAW16
♦ Long exposure up to 2000 seconds possible
♦ Tilting adjustable
♦ DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) eliminates annoying dead pixels (hot and cold) from the image
♦ Extremely low read noise with very high sensitivity
♦ Hexagonal aluminum housing with T2 connection and adapter for 1.25" focusers
♦ No built-in infrared blocking filter - IR recordings to reduce seeing effects are possible
♦ Autoguider connector
♦ Over-voltage and over-current protection

Downloads
Drivers can be downloaded from TS:

Generally necessary: Windows driver (must be installed before connecting the camera for the first time!)

Deep sky imaging software often requires the installation of an ASCOM platform: ASCOM6.5 platform

The ASCOM platform needs appropriate camera drivers: ASCOM6.5 camera drivers

Recording software is best found on vendor websites:

SharpCap as a versatile software for planetary recordings is preferably downloaded from the manufacturer: Download page of the manufacturer

There is a constantly changing number of deep sky recording programs with guiding and image pre-processing, here Google and Wikipedia can help. However, if you don't need guiding, you can also use SharpCap for deep-sky photography.
