The AE676M features a square 1/1.6" sensor, eliminating the need to struggle with aligning different aspect ratios. It offers the following advantages:

The AE676M is particularly well-suited for all-sky monitoring, meteor photography, and Milky Way photography. Its square format pairs perfectly with fisheye and wide-angle lenses, maximizing image coverage.
Exceptional sensitivity in the H-alpha and near-infrared ranges
Thanks to STARVIS-2 technology, the AE676M delivers a relative sensitivity of over 95% in the 600–750 nm wavelength range, enabling optimal imaging of H-alpha-rich objects such as solar prominences, flares, and details within emission nebulae.
Its outstanding sensitivity beyond 800 nm in the near-infrared range—combined with IR825/850 filters—allows for stunning infrared images of the Milky Way, even in the presence of light pollution. When used with narrowband filters, it enables efficient capture of deep-sky signals, even in light-polluted urban areas.
AR-coated protective window for maximum light transmission
The AE676M features an optical window with anti-reflective (AR) coating on both sides:
Reduces reflections and light loss
Protects against dust and mechanical damage
Improves light transmission in the 400–1100 nm wavelength range
When combined with a long-pass filter cutting on at approximately 825 nm—such as the ToupTek LP825, TSIR850, ASI850IRpass, or Antlia IR850—it enables breathtaking infrared images of the Milky Way. Modular magnetic cooling system for versatile use
"Fanless Constant Temperature Control" mode: Precise (±0.1°C) and vibration-free TEC cooling with PID control, reaching up to 5°C below ambient temperature* – ideal for sharp, consistent exposures at long focal lengths.
"Light Cooling Deep-Sky Camera Mode": Add the magnetic fan module to boost cooling performance to as much as 20°C below ambient temperature* – for long-exposure imaging with reduced thermal noise.
*Tested under long-exposure conditions at an ambient temperature of 25°C with adequate ventilation. Actual performance may vary depending on environmental conditions and exposure duration.
Native 12-bit ADC conversion & Hardware ROI
Native 12-bit image capture with software binning from 1×1 to 8×8 for flexible output resolutions, and hardware binning from 1×1 to 2×2. Hardware ROI enables higher frame rates by reducing the readout area. At reduced resolution (8-bit mode), speeds of up to 993 frames per second are achieved. This makes the AE676M perfect for high-speed planetary imaging as well as detailed shots of the Sun and Moon.
Seamless mode switching
The AE676M supports switching between HCG, LCG, and HDR modes, allowing for a tailored choice based on the target object:
HCG mode: Reduces read noise while maintaining high dynamic range, ideal for capturing and tracking faint deep-sky objects.
LCG mode: Prevents overexposure of bright objects while preserving highlight detail; ideal for bright targets.
