Products description

ASI220MM Mini Autoguider and USB2.0 Monochrome Camera - Chip D=8.81 mm

Probably the most sensitive autoguider from ZW-Optical for astrophotography at the moment with modern Sony sensor and 1.25" housing.
♦ MONO CMOS sensor SC2210 from Sony with a QE of max. 92 % and 4.0 µm pixel size for highest sensitivity - always find a guide star.

♦ High NIR sensitivity, thus reducing effective air turbulence.

♦ Sensor size 7.68 x 4.32 mm

♦ Convenient 1.25" housing - you can insert the autoguider / camera like an eyepiece into the guide tube, viewfinder or off axis guider.

♦ At only 60 grams, a true lightweight and no larger than a 1.25" eyepiece.

♦ Comprehensive scope of delivery: protective cap, manual, 2x USB cable, ST4 autoguiding cable, CS mount adapter and 1.25" extension tube

♦ You can also use the camera as a high-quality moon and planetary camera. Due to the high-sensitivity sensor, even images of deep-sky objects are possible.

♦ Incl. adapter to CS thread for connecting lenses and T2 adapter.

This camera contains a 1/1.8" SC2210 sensor (7.68 mm x 4.32 mm). It is a monochrome guiding camera with excellent near-infrared sensitivity. This camera has a pixel size of 4.0 µm * 4.0 µm in a 1920x1080 array and a full-well capacity of 8780 e-. The protective window is AR coated.

The ASI220MM Mini can be considered an improved version of the ASI290MM Mini, featuring a larger sensor format and larger pixels with better NIR sensitivity.

The advantages of the ASI220MM Mini as an autoguider.

♦ Due to the high light sensitivity, you will always find a guide star, even with off-axis guiding - guaranteed!
♦ The practical 1.25" housing makes adaptation easy. Insert the camera into the 1.25" mount, focus and go.
♦ Only 8.5 mm working distance from the leading edge to the chip - so you can get into focus even when distances are tight.
♦ With a weight of only 60 grams, the focuser is hardly burdened.
♦ ST4 cable and ST4 port are of course included. Connect the camera directly to the autoguiding port of the mount.

The autoguider software is not included in the scope of delivery. The camera is ASCOM compatible and suitable for PHD Guiding, Guidedog, Metaguide, Guidemaster (freeware), APT or AstroArt, MaxIm DL (fee required) among others.

The advantages of the ASI220MM Mini as astro camera

♦ High sensitivity sensor for good lunar and planetary photos.
♦ High frame rate in the planetary range.
♦ The camera fits into any 1.25" eyepiece focuser. Clamp the camera like an eyepiece, focus and start astrophotography.
♦ Due to its high sensitivity, the ASI220MM Mini is also suitable for photographing nebulae and galaxies.
♦ The camera is equipped with a clear glass filter that is also transparent in the infrared. This makes exciting infrared photography possible.

ASI Mini Cameras
The mini cameras have a nice appearance, small dimensions, low weight, these alone are already attractive features. But the cameras convince by further advantages:

High sensitivity - important for finding the guide star.
Sensitivity is the first thing that ZWO has focused on with these cameras. It is very important to find a guide star. So in the beginning, ZWO only considered a black and white sensor for use in their tracking cameras because a monochrome sensor has much higher sensitivity than a color sensor. The manufacturer then carefully compared the sensitivities of the available sensors. In the end, ZWO decided to use SW sensors. The monochrome sensor of the ASI220MM Mini has about 92% maximum quantum efficiency and can therefore detect more stars in the image field. It also allows to shorten the exposure time when guiding.

Focus position like eyepiece

ASI Mini and eyepiece can achieve focus at the same position. You can focus with one eyepiece and then put the mini camera into the 1.25" socket.

Works on the OAG

The ZWO mini cameras are good for tracking using OAG, they have a much wider focus range than normal ASI cameras. You no longer have to worry about the tracking camera not focusing at the same time as the imaging camera.
