The AZ3 mount has a flexible support plate to which you can attach devices with pipe clamps. However, spotting scopes or cameras have the 1/4" photo tripod connection.

The AZ3 photo attachment creates the transition. It is simply attached to the AZ-3 with the two screws provided (see picture). You can then attach devices with a photo tripod connection directly to the AZ-3. This is done without tools. This turns the AZ-3 into a very stable photo tripod with fine adjustment.
