Celestron CPC Heavy Duty Wedge (HD Pro)
Polar wedge for Celestron CPC and Evolution 925 alt-azimuth go-to telescopes
Enables long exposure times for astrophotography: The mount's azimuth axis is tilted to track like an equatorial mount.
For beginners and advanced astrophotographers (deep sky and planetary photography).
Tool-free operation, easy to adjust even under load.
Modern, stable, and portable design.
Robust latitude adjustment with easy-to-read scale and integrated bubble level.
This solid polar wedge fits all CPC telescopes, including the Evolution 925, which features the large tripod of the CPC telescopes. It transforms the popular fork-mounted telescopes into mobile platforms for astrophotography.
The CPC telescopes and the NexStar Evolution 925" are generally suitable for astrophotography with longer exposure times. In azimuthal mode, tracking is achieved by movement in both axes, which is not a problem for visual observation. However, in astrophotography, a field rotation becomes noticeable after just one minute of exposure time, initially distorting the stars at the edge of the field into lines.
The polar wedge eliminates this problem. It aligns the telescope's azimuth axis with the celestial pole. Tracking can therefore only be performed with the azimuth motor (there is an adjustment option in the hand controller for this), eliminating the need for field rotation. The wedge can be used worldwide. The tilt angle can initially be roughly adjusted thanks to the scale and then easily and precisely fine-tuned by hand using the fine-tuning screws with large adjustment knobs. The telescope can be easily mounted on the paths by one person by first attaching a screw to the base and then hanging it into the paths with this screw. Then the other two screws are inserted and tightened with an Allen key.
