The Sky-Watcher HELIOSTAR 100Hα is a 100mm premium H-Alpha high-performance solar telescope designed for the dedicated solar observer and photographer, offering exceptional performance of 0.5 angstroms or better. The Heliostar 100Hα is a precise tool for solar astronomy and comes with a comprehensive range of accessories, including a 22mm 70° wide-angle eyepiece, a solar zenith prism, and a sun finder.

Hydrogen-Alpha solar observation allows you to observe the incredible dynamics on the solar surface that a white-light solar filter cannot provide. From the prominences at the edge of the Sun, active sunspot regions, flares, solar granulation, thin, snake-like plasma filaments, and much more, you can experience them in breathtaking observations or capture them in photographs. When observing the Sun in the narrow H-alpha wavelength, observers are rewarded with exciting and impressive real-time observations of our nearest star and its fiery, majestic activity.

The HELIOSTAR-100Hα utilizes a variety of technologies to protect the human eye during observation, including a coating that reflects infrared radiation, a special filter that blocks heat, and a filter that blocks UV light and prevents stray light effects. It uses a combination of front and rear filters to allow only monochromatic light with a wavelength of 656.28 nanometers, emitted by hydrogen atoms, to enter, blocking all other wavelengths. This allows the observation of active prominences in the H-alpha wavelength.

Sky-Watcher's Solis Etalon technology allows the Heliostar-100Hα to achieve a very narrow bandwidth of just 0.5 angstroms without the need for an expensive second etalon with the same performance. This allows the observer to experience the sun in detailed images directly "out of the box" without the need for any additional, expensive accessories.

The Sky-Watcher HELIOSTAR-100Hα meets the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2:2015 (filters for direct observation of the sun). Always use the telescope according to the instructions and always exercise extreme caution when observing the sun!
