Returned: Skywatcher BlackLine Skymax-90 Maksutov 90mm 1250mm Spotting Scope

These Skywatcher Maksutov telescopes are excellent for observation and photography. Thanks to their compact dimensions, these instruments can be taken anywhere, for example, on flights. The telescope's length is only 25 cm! This instrument impresses with its very good image sharpness and high contrast.

Observation:

Whether you're observing wildlife or the night sky, the Black Line Maksutov is a compelling choice! The light-gathering power of the 90 mm aperture allows for the observation of nebulae and galaxies. The image is free of chromatic aberration and therefore has sufficient contrast to view the moon and planets in great detail. Under good viewing conditions, magnification up to 200x is possible.

A Maksutov telescope is particularly well-suited for observing the moon and planets. If you live in a light-polluted area and don't have the opportunity to move to darker locations, this system should definitely be considered. If you can't see deep-sky objects clearly anyway, a telescope for the moon and planets (the sun only with a suitable filter) is a good option. Even in light-polluted areas, these objects will always be a worthwhile target due to their brightness. While bright deep-sky objects are also possible, the main focus will be on the Moon and planets.

Enjoy beautiful lunar and detailed planetary observations (such as Saturn's rings, the play of shadows on Jupiter, or its Great Red Spot), as well as interesting deep-sky excursions to brighter objects, such as the Orion Nebula, the open double star cluster (h and chi) in Perseus, or even the galaxy groups M81, not to mention the star cluster in Hercules, M13!

Together with the bright and high-contrast image, beautiful details are revealed. The field of view is naturally somewhat smaller than with short-focal-length telescopes, but this isn't necessary for observing the Moon and planets. The longer focal length is advantageous because an additional Barlow lens isn't needed for higher magnifications. A Barlow lens is only used at very high magnifications when viewing conditions (minimal atmospheric turbulence, good sky transparency, etc.) permit. (Keep in mind that any air movement will be magnified.) Since the moon reflects enough light, this will primarily be used for observing the craters and surface features of our satellite.

Photography:

The BKM 90 has a direct T2 mount. With a T2 adapter ring, you can attach your SLR camera directly. Connecting digital cameras is also straightforward. The Star Max then serves as a high-quality telephoto lens with a 1250mm focal length and an aperture of f/13.9.
