Asterion EQ platform - for automatic tracking of your Dobsonian telescope.
A Dobsonian telescope convinces by its easy handling. Just set it up and start observing - pure observing pleasure! If only this annoying replenishment would not be and the object would remain in the eyepiece field of view even at high magnification.

Asterion's EQ platform is the solution. Simply place your Dobsonian on the platform, turn on the motor and the target will stay in the center of the eyepiece. You can observe even at high magnification and focus entirely on the object. Even photography of the moon and planets becomes possible.

The platform will track your Dobsonian for about an hour, then it must be reset. But this is easily and quickly done - lift the telescope a bit and push it back.

The operation of the platform is very simple:

♦ Set up the platform as level as possible. The built-in spirit level will help you with this. If the ground is soft, you should place something underneath to prevent it from sinking in.

♦ Align the platform in a north-south direction. The drive motor must point south, the circle segment north. A compass or an app on your smartphone is sufficient for alignment.

♦ Place your Dobson on the platform and turn on the tracking (N stands for northern hemisphere - S stands for southern hemisphere). Now you can start observing or photographing.

Applications of the Dobsonian platform:

♦ Tracking for your Dobson telescope (up to 30 kg) for visual observation.

♦ Also suitable for azimuthally mounted binoculars and spotting scopes. The mount or photo tripod only needs to be well secured to the platform.

♦ Photography of moon and planets is well possible.

♦ For photography of nebulae, star clusters and galaxies the platform is not designed. For this we recommend parallactic mounts, we will be happy to advise you.

General information about the Asterion Ecliptica platform:
Asterion Ecliptica is a lightweight, compact and easy-to-use equatorial platform. The telescope is simply placed on the platform. This allows you to follow the celestial object for about an hour. At the same time, all the functionality of the Dobsonian mount is maintained. You can move the tube freely by pointing the telescope to different parts of the sky, the tracking will work.

Ecliptica Light is made of durable and moisture-resistant laminated wood. The platform is reinforced with ribs. The aluminum guide rails of the platform roll on steel axles with bearings. The electric drive provides smooth operation, easy set-up and maintenance.

The Ecliptica Light platform allows the use of all popular models of Dobsonian telescopes up to 10". A larger telescope can also be mounted if its mechanics are ultra-light and meet the required specifications. The most important are the height of the center of gravity of the entire telescope and its total mass. However, you can also use photo tripods or small azimuthally mounted telescopes on the platform and enjoy tracking that way as well.
