Products description

Celestron CGX-L GoTo mount up to 34kg

The CGX-L mount is the big brother of the CGX and carries devices up to about 34 kilograms - which also reaches for the largest Celestron telescopes and accessories. With a net weight of less than 24 kg for the mount and 21 kg for the tripod, it is still easy to transport. Thanks to the large carrying handles, it is even better to transport than a comparable, slightly lighter classic parallactic mount!

Designed for small observatories and remote operations, the CGX-L focuses on a good payload-to-deadweight ratio, a compact design and innovative details for your use of large telescopes, photographic equipment and the latest wireless accessories.

A key role comes with the 144 mm generously sized worm wheels, which allow a smoother running even with heavy telescopes, as well as the extended to 270mm dovetail clamp that holds even large telescopes safely. For remote operation, there are optical sensors for home and border positions, simplified nesting settings, and improved cable routing. There are also mechanical and ergonomic improvements that make the mount even more stable, user-friendly and portable.

With the Dual Dovetail Clamp for CG-5 (Vixen, Celestron) or CGE (3-inch Losmandy) you can easily navigate e.g. switch between small solar telescopes and large Schmidt-Cassegrains. In order to make photography fun, the mount has got powerful, responsive motors that are connected to the axles via a sturdy toothed belt. So the mount reacts almost immediately to control commands, even from an autoguider. The gear play is eliminated, and since the worm wheels are spring-loaded, the game is largely eliminated - you do not have to readjust even with larger temperature differences, screws and gears have optimal contact.

The large screws are grippy, so you can loosen or tighten them well with gloves - also the pole height adjustment has been revised, so you can easily adjust the mount even when fully loaded. A Polsucher will be available as an option, but is usually unnecessary: With the All-Star Polaralign, you can mount the mount through the telescope on any brighter star, and for perfection, shining is always superior to the Polsuche. As a special feature, you can move the mount on the base plate of the extra wide tripod head - so you can put the focus perfectly on the tripod, for the whole usable latitude range from 3 to 65 ° north or south latitude. The flat base can also be easily adapted to your own columns - a drawing for an adapter can be found here.

As a photo mount, it is just as suitable for mobile use as it is for remote operation. Internal sensors ("switches") bring the mount to home position automatically and prevent you from driving too far in pans and bumping into something. The internal wiring is also for security: All connections (power, hand controller, AUX and autoguider) are in the base of the mount and do not move with.

The hand controller can be controlled in a classic way via ASCOM and the hand controller (with USB connection) via PC, or you can use the supplied control software, which was developed in collaboration with Planewave Instruments. Multipoint GoTo modeling, plate solving, and focus control are just some of the features you normally need to retrofit for remote operation-the CGX includes this software. Here you do not need the hand controller, but can directly use the USB port of the mount.

Increased payload of 34 kilograms, excellent ratio of payload to deadweight

Additional AUX jacks and autoguider connection on the Dec axis for better cable management

144mm large worm wheels to track even heavy loads better and more accurate

270mm long dovetail clamp to better support even large telescopes
Steel tripod with 70 mm thick legs and larger spread angle for a stable stand
New accessory tray for three 1.25 "eyepieces, two 2" eyepieces and an upright holder for tablet or smartphone
Heavy duty stainless steel counterweight bar with 31.5mm diameter for additional counterweights
Optionally available polar finder specifically for CGX and CGX-L as an alternative to the software-based All-Star Polar Align

Supports wireless and wired control with accessories such as StarSense AutoAlign and SkyPortal WiFi Module (sold separately)
Properties of the mount

Compact, low-profile mount head for greater stability and better portability. Stable and stiffer with a shorter decay time.
Improved engines with more torque, for better panning and tracking even at high payload
Heavy-duty timing belts minimize gear play and enable short reaction times even with heavy payloads
Inspection windows in the motor housings show the activity of the drives

Spring-loaded worm wheels made of measurement and stainless steel reduce friction and increase accuracy of fit
Internal cabling, power and bottom connectors will not move with the mount panning
Home and Limit switches - internal hardware stops for R.A. and Dek to avoid clutter and collisions with the tripod

Internal optical sensors on both axes for easy and safe remote operation
Home sensors allow the mount to always be in the starting position, no matter in which position it was before interrupting the power supply
Limit sensors automatically stop tracking or panning before the mechanical stops are reached
Includes the sophisticated PWI control software developed in collaboration with Planewave Instruments. Masters multi-point Go-To Modeling, Focusing and Plate Solving. There is no need for any additional control software, which saves you hundreds of Euros!

Software-assisted ordering: "All-Star Polar Alignment" enables fast and very accurate ordering. Use any bright stars without additional accessories or apps.
The position of the mount head on the tripod can be adjusted to optimally place the focus over the tripod and make the most of the wide latitude range of 3-65 °
dual dovetail mount for CG-5 / EQ / Vixen and CGE / 3 "Losmandy

Runs up to 20º on both sides across the meridian, supports SkyPortal WiFi and StarSense AutoAlign modules.
Tripod legs can be folded without first removing the accessory tray.
Revised tripod with wider spread angle for more stability. The minimum height of the tripod has been lowered by popular demand

Improved ergonomics

Two handles for easier transport and construction

Handy clamps for dovetail clamping
Innovative and improved system for ordering

Revised adjustment mechanism for the pole height, even with fully loaded mount. A stationary pole height adjustment knob with a newly developed connection system reduces friction when mounting the mount. A revised azimuth setting with low-friction Teflon bearings makes it easier to position a fully loaded mount.
Easy to read latitude scale
