Fornax-52 mount up to 50kg

The latest series of FORNAX mounts (Fornax-52/102/152) are designed for the precise alignment and tracking of medium and large telescopic loads (up to 45kg, 85kg and 130kg respectively - for the Fornax-202 up to 170kg telescope weight). In recent years, the FORNAX has undergone several "plastic surgeries" and "rejuvenating treatments", making the style of earlier Fornax models barely recognizable in the new series. Accordingly, the internal structure was completely redeveloped.

Thanks to a self-regulating worm shaft bearing, the drive operates virtually without play, is completely insensitive to temperature fluctuations and also maintenance-free (the Simmering sealing system developed for Namiba operation has now become standard).

The engine has been redesigned. The standard FORNAX mounts also have a 1: 864 reduction ratio (192 teeth and 16:72 V-belt system), however, 400-step motors are used. All FORNAX mounts are not only tested for PEC, but also the motor tracking in the subsecond range, which must be guaranteed to be less than 0.5 "(measurement diagrams are included!)
It is also possible to further throttle the subsecond tracking error, up to 0.2 "or even less, using SECM motors with 1: 3 offset gears, as this version of the motor itself is very long, probably the most prominent part of the Fornax (namely The total reduction of the so-called photo version is thus just over 1: 2000 (192 teeth, 20:72 V-belt system, 1: 3 pre-gearbox on the SECM engine) .Of course, the motors also have 400 steps per revolution.

The mount is made exclusively of stainless metal, the screw housing is dust and waterproof. That's why the worm wheels always stay clean and well greased, and the new Fornax series has a correspondingly high and maintenance-free life. The mount fully meets the demanding conditions of astrophotography. Although the typical periodic error is +/- 7 "(a period of the screw takes 7.5 minutes, so very long), but more importantly that they respond to corrections (eg autoguider) both axes very fast and, above all, how already mentioned, completely free of play.

There are also a few UPGRADE options:
POPEC: All Fornax models can be delivered with the new Hungarian permanent OPtical Error Control (POPEC) system: it is a modified MGEN automatic with built-in optics and simplified menu system (originally developed for the HAT South Project in Chile), which is located directly below attached to the DEC platform and directly connected to the controller: this will cause all running inaccuracies to be markedly below 1 ".
ENCODER: The Fornax-102 and 152 can also be retrofitted with encoders. Encoder communication is supported by the FS2 and Pulsar-2 controllers (with both manufacturers we are constantly exchanging information, i.e. upgrades remain compatible).
WOOD TRIPOD: If someone wants to stay mobile ... The new extremely massive LACERTA wood tripod (Made in Hungary) has a load capacity of about 300kg, but weighs only about 20kg. The tripod head is not a brittle and break-prone cast aluminum, but a high-quality aluminum alloy, which was adapted with CNC directly to Fornax -52 and Fornax-102. The legs are 14cm (!) Wide.

We recommend the following controls for the Fornax mounts: MC3 from UrsaMinor / Hungary (also controllable with SynScan Handbox!), FS2 from Michael Koch / Germany, or Pulsar-2 from Gemini / Hungary (includes GPS, and absolute encoder capable)
