The AZ-EQ5 is not to be regarded as a successor to the HEQ5, it is a new / further development!

The most obvious difference is, as with the AZ-EQ6, that it can be used both as an azimuthal, as a parallactic mount incl tracking - Goto.

Thus, the AZ-EQ5 is the optimal solution for amateur astronomers who do not want to buy two different mounts. Here you have ONE mount that can BOTH.

The star friend, who first of all visually observes the star tent, but does not want to do without the expandability for astrophotography, is well advised with this mount.

Due to the column stand and its small pack size (length 61 cm), this mount is also perfect for traveling - but it is too heavy for air travel.
