Accessory for a defined tilt of your camera to compensate for blur caused by tilting of the instrument setup.

Do you have a camera with a large chip or a DSLR camera, and your images are always out of focus in one part of the image? When taking photos of the sun with your H-Alpha filter, do you see unsightly Newton rings in the field of view? The cause is usually a tilted chip. The CTU (Camera Tilting Unit or tilt flange) is the solution!

The CTU enables extremely sensitive adjustment: Tilt adapters typically use three pairs of tension/compression screws at an angle of 120°. These screws are far too coarse and do not allow for sensitive adjustment! In these designs, a large part of the adjustment is achieved through the elastic or even plastic deformation of the components, making sensitive and reproducible adjustment impossible.

The heart of the CTU, however, is three screws that press radially against a conical surface. These three screws allow the camera's tilt to be adjusted very precisely and reproducibly. One turn increases the distance by 0.2 mm. The total travel is only 1 mm. Three sets of disc springs hold the camera securely in position.

The tilt can be adjusted externally at any time without having to remove the camera from the telescope.

We offer the CTU accessories in the following sizes:

CTU M48: Has the familiar M48x0.75 connection thread on both sides and is suitable for cameras with small to medium-sized sensors.
CTU XL 2.7" AP: Has the 2.7" Astro-Physics connection thread on both sides and is designed for cameras with large sensors. Includes adapter with continuous 2.7" AP bolt thread.
CTU XL M68x1: Has M68x1 threads on both sides and is designed for cameras with large sensors. Includes adapter with continuous M68x1 bolt thread.
CTU Canon EOS / M48: Has a Canon EOS lens mount on one side and an M48x0.75 thread on the camera side. The CTU has a thickness of 20mm with the mount. With the optional T2 adapter, a remaining light path of 23mm remains for the Canon flange focal distance of 44.0mm.
CTU Nikon / M48: Has a Nikon lens mount on one side and an M48x0.75 thread on the camera side. The CTU has a thickness of 21.5mm with the mount. With the optional T2 adapter, a remaining light path of 25mm remains for the Nikon flange focal distance of 46.5 mm.
