2" adapter for Sky-Watcher & Orion Maksutov Cassegrain telescopes
The adapter allows the use of 2 "accessories on the Skymax Maksutov Cassegrain telescopes from 102 mm to 180 mm opening.
TS-Optics 2" adapter for Orion and Sky-Watcher Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes
Sky-Watcher and Orion offer good and inexpensive Maksutov Cassegrains from 100mm opening to 180mm opening. The telescopes allow the use of eyepieces up to 40mm field diaphragm diameter. Eyepieces from 30 mm field diaphragm diameter are already 2" eyepieces.
With the 1.25" adapter that comes with the telescope, you're giving away valuable field of view. This problem is solved by this TSSKM-2 adapter, which makes your telescope fit for the attractive 2" range.
Important note:
The adapter will only fit on Sky-Watcher Maksutows, which are shipped with 1.25" adapter, which have a 45mm thread under the 1.25" adapter. Unfortunately, Sky-Watcher Maksutows, which comes with a 2" adapter at the factory, have a different thread, and the adapter is not compatible with these devices: the Maksutow-Cassegrain with a 90mm opening does not fit the adapter, because the button to focus too close to the thread.
Practical tip from telescope service:
The Maksutov-Cassegrains have a baffle, which offers only 30mm free opening. Now theorists will doubt that 2" makes sense, well, from practice we can report that it makes sense.
The picture is not completely dark at larger field stops, it only gets darker very slowly. Now the human brain can completely compensate for differences in brightness of up to 15%. So if you set the illumination as 85%, the usable field of view already changes to about 40mm, and 2" oculars make sense, as compared to 1.25" oculars, you already have over 20% field of view.
Even an illumination of 80% or less is not necessarily annoying. You only notice that the object gets a little darker when it drifts to the edge. But you always have the advantage of a better overview.
