This adapter has proven to be very important in many areas of astronomy. The extension sleeve is simply screwed into the filter thread of 2" eyepieces or 2" adapter, thus extending the insertion sleeve by 30mm.

On the telescope side you can screw in a filter or even adapt an additional extension sleeve. So you can extend the socket almost anywhere, without reducing the accuracy of fit, as with plug adapters that can tilt.
